Anyone else having trouble getting KI to find the update in the Windows Store?
Yeah, update is still unavailable for Windows as far as I can tell. The suspense is borderline unbearable, and I’m a pretty patient fellow (usually).
I want the update. I don’t have it either.

Maybe @rukizzel can help, this seems to be a universal problem with PC players. I’m so ready for this but it just ain’t there.
Not sure if it would make a difference, but has anyone tried deleting KI from their PC & loading the whole game back? I would try myself, but I just re-uploaded it yesterday for a different reason (moving it off of SSD to HDD).
Weird. If I go to my library on the Windows Store and click Killer Instinct, it says something like “This app will not work on this device”
This makes no since because:
- I’ve been playing it since it released and have had no issues.
- I’m on the newest Windows 10 version that’s required now for KI (The Anniversary Update)
- Yes, I have an internet connection and I’m signed-in and everything. I also refreshed the Windows Store and it’s still saying it.
So yeah. Hopefully something didn’t get messed up.

Nothing wrong here, updated correctly. Be sure your app Store is setted to update automaticaly.
Win + R; type “services.msc” without “”; find "Windows Update; check if it is running properly.
How big is the update? My screen shows downloading with the number going up.
I think it’s under 2Gb, but when I hit update, it just reinstalled the whole game. I’m glad I live out in the sticks where my ISP doesn’t know what a data cap is.
Ran into something along these lines on 3.5. To my understanding, it’s the gradual update rollout we’re all familiar with on Xbox, combined with the PC version detecting that an update exists on startup and not wanting to start up until the update rolls out.
This sounds like you’re clicking the Xbox version of KI rather than the PC version. The PC version is the one with the Eyedol thumbnail. KI isn’t technically a Play Anywhere game – the two versions of the game are cross-play/buy/save with one another like a Play Anywhere game, but they’re not identified with one another in the store like a Play Anywhere game is.
And now with the latest update KI on PC is crashing for me on startup. Starts at splashscreen and game closes no errors no any information that I can give.
The Game worked flawlessly since season 3 launch, this is my first real issue.
To PC is 920mb and to Xbox is 1,5gb.
